It’s back! On Aug. 20-21, from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday, the very best brewers, vintners and artists will collect on the lawn to celebrate the end of summer at the annual Art, Wine and Beer Festival held at Skypark in Scotts Valley.
Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danny Reber said he is glad to return the festival to Skypark this year. In 2021, the chamber was not able to hold the festival at Skypark. The fields had been damaged by equipment brought in to help fight the CZU Lightning Complex, so the festivities were moved to Siltanen while the area underwent restoration.
“That move presented a logistical challenge, but it was a huge success and a record year. We ran out of glasses, and had to go pull old glasses out of storage to meet the demand. By Sunday, we were serving out of plastic cups,” Reber said. “It was the first community event coming out of Covid. People were so happy to get out and see their neighbors.”
For 2022, Reber is hoping for the same level of attendance.
“We’re really proud of our festival. With all of the festivities planned, there really is something for everyone, and the event is family-friendly,” he said.
Saturday’s musical acts include the Shady Rest Band and Lyin’ I’s, an Eagles tribute band. On Sunday, Bobbie Wards will perform, as well as the Joint Chiefs and the Lost Boys with James Durbin.
“We’ll also have the Scotts Valley Schools talent show on Sunday morning, and that’s always a great way to start the second day,” Reber said.
In addition, the festival will feature special showcases such as the Cops and Rodders Car Show on Saturday, and Bring Your Dog Day on Sunday—although dogs are welcome both days.
“We’ll have 16 food vendors this year and over 100 artists. It’s going to be a great time, and we welcome everyone to come enjoy themselves,” said Reber.
Steel Bonnet, Humble Sea, NuBo and Discretion Brewing will be among the dozens of brewers on hand, while the list of wineries includes 37th Parallel, Bargetto, Kissed by an Angel and Sones Cellars.
