In just a week, the Scotts Valley Art and Wine Festival will celebrate its 10th year by showcasing more than 100 artists’ work at Skypark.
“I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the art and the vendors,” said Dirk Andrews, a Vine Hill Elementary School teacher and the festival’s sound technician. Andrews has worked on sound for the festival for 10 years and has seen the music grow from bands playing on the porch of the Scotts Valley Parks and Recreation Division office to playing on a full stage donated by the Scotts Valley Rotary Club.
The artistic displays at the festival, which is organized by the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce and Scotts Valley Art Commission, will include functional and fine art and will also feature some of the area’s most prestigious wineries and microbreweries, including Bargetto Winery, Roudon-Smith Winery, Sarah’s Vineyard and Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing.
In all, tasters can enjoy wines and beers from 12 wineries and two breweries.
The festival will also have live music on both days and a Kids Korner with artist Denise Kiser Shaw, who will guide children through art projects.
“It’s going to be a great celebration of the 10th year of the festival,” said Sherolynn Ullestad, the chamber’s executive director.
