Several Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley High School athletes have qualified for the Central Coast Section finals Friday, May 28, at Gilroy High School after competing at the semifinal meet last weekend.
For San Lorenzo Valley, sophomore pole vaulter Amanda Lackides qualified for the finals, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches; Allan Hetke ran a personal record 9 minutes, 31.02 seconds to qualify sixth in the 3,200 meters; and Kyle Todd launched the discus 141-04, qualifying him for eighth place in the final.
For Scotts Valley, Kyle McNulty led the way, qualifying in the 800 by winning his heat in 1:58.04; and Lauren Germany qualified ninth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:19.07. Pole vaulter Alex Weitzel narrowly missed qualifying after clearing 13 feet, but missed on more jumps than the eighth-place finisher.
The finals will begin at 4 p.m. for running events and 6 for field events.
