Signups are underway for the Bean Creek Run which returns to Scotts Valley Sunday, Oct. 20.
The road race, now in its third year, begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road. It will end at Scotts Valley High School — a fitting ending as proceeds from the race will benefit the Falcon Club, the organization that funds many aspects of the high school’s athletics programs.
Falcon Club president Stephanie Espinola said the run is a major fundraiser for the club.
“It can be taken serious or it can just be a fun run,” she said.
The course takes runners from the Scotts Valley Community Center up Bean Creek Road, and then down Glenwood Drive to the finish line at Scotts Valley High School.
This is the third year the Falcon Club has put on the Bean Creek Run and they are hoping for 150 runners this year. The race is open to all ages and participants can register online at www.active.com. Registration is $30.
Each year runners have consisted of community members, sports teams, youth and seniors.
For all participants the race includes a t-shirt, gift bag and breakfast at the finish line.
The top two male and female finishers will receive medals and an hundred dollar gift card to Fleet Feet Sports.
