A 70-year-old Ben Lomond resident was killed after driving off the roadway and down a 40-foot embankment on Glen Arbor Road on Saturday, March 2.
According to California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sarah Jackson, Dennis Pageau was driving a green 2012 Jeep Wrangler north on Glen Arbor Road just south of Newell Creek Road when his vehicle went off the road, struck a utility pole and crashed down the embankment into the creek.
The Jeep was found upside down in the creek, Jackson said, and emergency responders pronounced Pageau dead on the scene at 1:40 p.m.
According to Jackson, Pagueau was wearing a seatbelt, and no other vehicles were involved. Conditions were dry at the time of the accident, and cellphone use was ruled out as a cause, Jackson said.
A toxicology report will be completed in the next several weeks to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved, Jackson said.
