On Saturday, Nov. 9, the storied history of Ben Lomond will come to life in an exciting new event at Park Hall Community Center.

The first of a three-part lecture series titled “Tales of Ben Lomond” will kick off with the first installment, “Rugged Rogues and Fearless Mavericks: San Lorenzo Valley Adventurers in Ben Lomond 1821-1890.” Co-hosted by Park Hall and the Ben Lomond Village Alliance, this captivating exploration of Ben Lomond’s past will be led by local historian and Realtor Ronnie Trubek, who will dive into the lives of the bold adventurers, rascals and mavericks that helped shape the San Lorenzo Valley.

The event promises to offer a unique glimpse into Ben Lomond’s rich history, where larger-than-life characters blazed trails, broke boundaries and left their indelible marks on the rugged landscape of the valley. From the earliest settlers to fearless figures who defied convention, attendees will learn about the events and personalities that helped create the community’s identity.

“Ben Lomond’s history is filled with incredible stories of individuals who challenged the status quo and made their mark in unique ways,” Trubek said. “I’m thrilled to share their stories with the community and highlight the adventurous spirit that has been a part of this valley for generations.”

The event will be held from 10am-12pm and will include an intermission with concessions available. Tickets can be purchased in advance at benlomondvillage.org/events, and a limited number will be available at the door.

The presentation will take place at Park Hall Community Center, a beloved Ben Lomond landmark. Built in 1923, Park Hall has served as a cherished gathering place for the community for over a century. Nestled in the heart of Ben Lomond, the hall was dedicated by indenture deed to the citizens of the area and remains a hub of activity and tradition. The proceeds from this history presentation will contribute to maintaining this important space for future generations.

Proceeds from the event will also benefit the Ben Lomond Village Alliance, a community-driven organization dedicated to preserving the town’s unique character and history. The Alliance supports volunteer-led projects aimed at enhancing local infrastructure, beautifying public spaces, and organizing educational and cultural events that connect residents with the town’s heritage.

Through initiatives like this lecture series, the Alliance hopes to foster a deeper appreciation for Ben Lomond’s history while also building a vibrant future for the town. The Alliance’s mission is to maintain the integrity of the village while creating opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy its unique charm.

Don’t miss this chance to connect with the past and support two key organizations working to preserve the spirit of Ben Lomond. This presentation is a can’t-miss event for history enthusiasts and locals alike.
