Search teams organized by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office entered Big Basin Redwoods State Park this morning looking for a Pennsylvania man who is believed to have entered the park on Saturday.
The man, Jonathan Ian Frank, is 56-years-old with brown hair and green eyes. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 150 pounds.
California State Park Rangers working in the Big Basin area reported that a black Kia station wagon had been parked in a day-use area since Saturday, Dec. 11.
A background check found the Kia to belong to Frank and his wife Judy Frank. They have addresses in Pennsylvania and Southern California.
Judy Frank was found to be in Pennsylvania.
Early reports are that Jonathan Frank may be carrying a gun – a small amount of ammunition was found in his car – and he may by upset over losing his business and splitting with his wife.
