Motorists cruising along Highway 236 may notice an old-fashioned wooden wagon near the intersection of Jamison Creek Road festooned with various seasonal decorations.
For five years, Sandy Kinder has been decorating the small antique wagon in Boulder Creek outside her house in sync with the holidays and the changing seasons.
Kinder said that she used to drive down Bear Creek Road and see the wagon and its changing decorations when it was owned by Georgina Locatelli.
After settling down in her own house with her husband, she decided to do the same. Her husband purchased Locatelli’s wagon and Kinder continued the tradition of decorating it with each holiday or changing of the season.
“Each month that has a holiday” becomes the wagons theme, said Kinder, “and May is dedicated to butterflies and flowers.”
Summer can incorporates things like beach chairs and umbrellas, sand toys, and surfboards, while October is decorated with the spirit of Halloween — incorporating jack-o-lanterns, graves and other items to make the season come to life.
“The wagon has become its own little world,” Kinder said.
