UPDATE: Cal Fire reported at 3:32 p.m. today that the wildland fire that broke out at 2:25 p.m. in Boulder Creek was completely surrounded.
Six Cal Fire “hotshot” firefighters left the scene to travel to another fire as Cal Fire and local volunteer fire crews remained on scene to finish battling the blaze.
A 1/2-acre wildland fire that broke out at 2:25 p.m. today has slowed its rate of spread in Boulder Creek.
Boulder Creek Fire reported power lines down at the corner of Logan Creek Road and Kings Creek Road and the fire spreading from 1/4-acre to 1/2 acre at a “quick rate of spread.”
PG&E was called to the scene to turn off live wires on the ground.
The fire was moving topographically along the terrain at a slower rate by 3:15 p.m. Emergency dispatchers reported that no structures were threatened at that time.
Dispatchers initially called for a full wildland response and bulldozers, airtankers and water tenders were ordered to the scene. However, dispatchers cancelled the order for the bulldozers.
Currently there are at least four fire crews and two hand crews as well as Boulder Creek volunteers on the scene.
Temperatures have topped 90 degrees today in the area. However, wind gusts are hardly noticeable.
