Road work continues at Zayante intersection
A rusted pipe under the intersection of East Zayante and Graham Hill roads created a large sinkhole a week ago, causing the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors to authorize emergency repairs on the roadway.
The metal pipe that failed was more than 8 feet deep, and a $55,645 contract was awarded to Reber Construction to repair the piping.
Some traffic delays are expected as work continues through the end of August. However, the contractor is expected to keep two lanes open as often as possible.
