Montessori school plans open house
Montessori Scotts Valley will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 10 at 123 S. Navarra Drive in Scotts Valley.
The head of the school, Susanne Schwarz, invites prospective parents to visit the infant, toddler, and preschool environments and learn more about Montessori methods.

Satellite Telework wins Red Herring award
Felton-based Satellite Telework Centers, 6265 Highway 9, was named a winner of the Red Herring 100 North America Awards for 2010.
The competition included a review of qualifications followed by company presentations to the Red Herring editorial team. Each applicant was required to qualify earlier this year as a private technology company not listed on any exchange.
Since the awards program was launched in 1996, the Red Herring 100 lists have been used by technology industry executives, investors and strategists as an instrument for discovering and advocating for promising private ventures worldwide.
Community manager earns state recognition
Chris Pritchard of John Stewart Co. in Scotts Valley was recently awarded the Certified Community Association Manager designation by the California Association of Community Managers.
The CCAM designation is awarded to community managers who have completed an educational curriculum and fulfilled a minimum requirement of work experience in the field of community association management.
To earn the honor, the designee must be knowledgeable about state law and ethical practices. Certified managers are equipped to offer counsel and professional services to homeowners associations in compliance with California law.
Free identity theft seminar on tap
Risk management specialist Alan Smith will host a free seminar on protecting one’s family and business from identity theft at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Satellite Telework Centers, 6265 Highway 9, in Felton.
The seminar will cover types of identity theft, costs to individuals and businesses, laws relating to the crime, the Federal Trade Commission’s expectations about how businesses should protect privacy in the workplace, and the steps businesses should take to reduce liability and mitigate damages related to identity theft.
