Holiday Boutique to open
The annual local artisans Holiday Boutique will open for the weekends Nov. 26 next to Eric’s DeliCafe in the Kings Village Shopping Center, 222 Mount Hermon Road.
More than 40 local artisans will sell jewelry, glassware, pottery, blankets, hats, scarves and other gifts.
Beginning the day after Thanksgiving, the boutique will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 19

Financial manager to speak about fees
Ben Lomond-based financial adviser Thomas Wynn will host a free seminar to teach investors how much they should pay in fees and how to reduce those fees.
The talk, titled “The Secret Life of Fees,” will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Satellite in Felton, 6265 Highway 9. Wine will be served, and reservations are welcome but not necessary.

Seagate disc drives honored
The FreeAgent GoFlex external hard drives and Momentus XT solid-state laptop hard drive developed by Scotts Valley-based Seagate Technology have been named International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honorees.
The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category in Las Vegas. The entries will be judged based on engineering, aesthetic qualities, how the product compares with others in the marketplace, and several other criteria.

Hospice hires new officer
Hospice of Santa Cruz County recently announced the hiring of registered nurse Debbie Owen as chief clinical officer. Owen will provide overview management and direction to the hospice program, transitions, and grief support programs.
Before joining the county hospice, Owen was chief operations officer at Multi-View Inc.
Buy-local talk in Scotts Valley
Michael Olson of Santa Cruz’s “Think Local First” will visit Scotts Valley from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Bruno’s BBQ, 230 Mount Hermon Road, to discuss the benefits of building the local economy.
