Group touts shopping locally
Think Local First, a grassroots Santa Cruz group, has declared Dec. 2 through 9 as Shop Local Week in Santa Cruz County.
The group asks people pledge to shop exclusively at locally owned businesses to show support for the community.
A billboard on Highway 17 announces the initiative, and the group will give away 600 Think Local First canvas tote bags at the Sockshop & Shoe Co., Legs and Palace Art and Office Supply in Santa Cruz.
Names will be drawn from a list of locals who send an e-mail to sh*******@*****************uz.org and pledge to shop locally during the week.
