Water company completes move
Scotts Valley’s Pure Valley Water has completed its move to its new address, suite 224-A in the Kings Village Shopping Center on Mount Hermon Way.
The shop has expanded parking and 24-hour water vending machines.
In the move, owners Mark and Wendi Kramerpugh replaced all their equipment and doubled the number of filling stations from 12 to 24. They’ve also begun selling purified ice in their new 2,300-square-foot digs.
One of the key features in the store is the clean room, with a glass window that shows the filtration system.
“I think it’s a great visual aid,” Mark Kramerpugh said. “You get to look at what you’re consuming.”
The store also added a demonstration shower to show that soft water, purified by filtration systems the company sells, does not leave spots.
“It gave the opportunity to talk to customers more,” Wendi Kramerpugh said.
Pure Valley Water was the first water store in the county when it opened 25 years ago.
Motorcycle company receives $26 million
Scotts Valley’s Zero Motorcycles announced last week that it has raised $26 million in additional financing from its investor group, led by Invus LP.
As of March 3, it had $17 million invested, with the potential for another $9 million as the company continues to grow.
Zero CEO Gene Banman said the company will ramp up U.S.-based production while expanding its global sales.
Invus LP has been the principal investor in Zero since its first investment in April 2008.
Local sports company to sponsor Scotts Valley bike race
Easton-Bell Sports and its brands, including Easton, Bell, Giro and Blackburn, will be the title partner for the 2011 Scotts Valley Grand Prix.
The company’s headquarters are in Scotts Valley, just down the road from the race course.
“Easton-Bell Sports is proud to sponsor the Scotts Valley Grand Prix, working with the city, the chamber of commerce and Syzygy Sports Group to bring the community this exciting cycling event,” said Steve Bigelow, action sports president, in a prepared statement.
The race will take place May 15. Activities will start at 1 p.m., with the women’s pro race as the main attraction at 5:40 p.m. and the Men’s Pro Twilight criterium at 7:50 p.m.
The race was established last year by Mark Davis and continues with new sponsorship this year.
