Carl’s Jr. owner familiar with county
The owner of the new Carl’s Jr. franchise in Scotts Valley owns several other restaurants in the county.
James Yeung, of Orange County, owns Carl’s Jr. restaurants in Capitola, Freedom, Morgan Hill and Gilroy.
Yeung has two business partners: Manny Gharahgozloo, of Fremont, is the operations manager, and Amir Siddiqi, a third partner, is also from Southern California.
Yeung said he “absolutely fell in love with (Scotts Valley)” when he drove through. He described the restaurant site — the former Wendy’s — as a “dynamite location.”
The floor plan of the restaurant is mostly unchanged, he said.
According to Yeung, Carl’s Jr. could open Thursday, Oct. 25, or Friday, Oct. 26, after Press-Banner press time.
Yeung said he was training his new employees at several other Carl’s Jr. locations and also reached out to former Wendy’s employees to staff the restaurant.
The Scotts Valley location, Yeung noted, will be the first Carl’s Jr. in northern California to serve Hardy’s Made From Scratch Biscuits.
The restaurant, 5620 Scotts Valley Drive, will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
