Curves, a women’s gym in Felton, will collect nonperishable food and cash throughout March and donate them to local food banks to help families in need.
Curves members who donate a bag of groceries or make a donation of $30 or more between March 1 and 31 will receive a Curves grocery freezer bag. Nonmembers who donate $75 worth of groceries between March 8 and 20 can join Curves free of charge. Membership usually costs $199.
Curves of Felton, 6149 Highway 9, is participating in a company-wide contest to see which of the nationwide branches can gather the most food.
“We hope women in the Felton area will come together and participate in this initiative,” said Gordon Roberts of Curves in Felton. “Even if you’re not thinking about joining a gym, you can still drop off your donations. There are so many families — right here in our own community — who need our help.”
