Spa names contest winners
Monet Salon and Spa granted a free spa day to four breast cancer survivors in a contest last month.
Mary Telles, Michele Caro, Kristy Sion and Sally O’Brien were nominated and recognized in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.
The salon, at 219 Mount Hermon Ave., will offer each woman a facial massage, manicure, pedicure and hair-styling and makeup session next week.
Four other nominees received $50 gift certificates to the spa.
Chinese restaurant changes name
The Chinese eatery at 4303 Scotts Valley Drive has a new name.
The owners of the former Mei Garden Chinese Restaurant have changed the name to Chef Liu to differentiate the restaurant from Mei Garden on Ocean Street in Santa Cruz.
Originally, the two restaurants had the same ownership, but that is no longer the case.
The menu will stay the same despite the name change.
BC businesses to meet
The Boulder Creek Business Association will host a meeting for members and nonmembers at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at Liberty Bank, 13233 Highway 9, in Boulder Creek. The association will discuss upcoming community events and fundraisers for 2010.

Businesses support BC Library
The Friends of the Boulder Creek Library hosted its first Carved Pumpkin Gallery on Oct. 31. A motley crew of about 30 pumpkins were submitted to the contest, with prizes awarded to many of the entries.
The group thanked all the businesses that donated supplies and raffle prizes.
Donations came from Mountain Feed and Farm Supply, Blind Pilot Jewelers, Boulder Creek Pharmacy, Johnnie’s Super Market, Jenna Sue’s Café, Redwood Keg, Darby Kremers and Rodoni Farms.
The group plans to repeat the contest next year.
