The Scotts Valley Medical Clinic will celebrate its 40th anniversary from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at the clinic, 2980 El Rancho Drive, in Scotts Valley. The celebration is open to all, and Scotts Valley Mayor Randy Johnson will be a guest speaker.

Aviza Technology sells assets
Scotts Valley-based semiconductor manufacturer Aviza Technology agreed Aug. 13 to sell almost all of its assets related to its system, service, parts and spare parts to Sumito Precision Products Co. Ltd.
According to a prepared statement, Aviza will receive $15 million in cash and about $41.5 million in promissory notes from the Japanese firm. Sumito will also assume the lease of Aviza’s facility in South Wales and about $5 million in operating liabilities.
Aviza filed for bankruptcy protection in June and has been unable to sell its Scotts Valley facility.
Benefit for Scotts Valley Cheer
Red Brick Pizza, 6006 La Madrona Drive, Ste. C, in Scotts Valley, will donate part of its proceeds to the Scotts Valley High School cheerleading squad as it raises funds to make a trip to Alice, Texas.
Red Brick will give 20 percent of its proceeds between 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and between the same hours Sept. 2 to the squad.
The cheerleaders will travel to Texas with school’s football team for a game Sept. 4.
SV company invites HR speaker
Scotts Valley’s Pathfinder Consulting will host guest speaker Janett Edrington, who will speak on human resources topics, both technical and motivational, on Monday, Aug. 24.
The meeting is at Marie Callendar’s, 3400 Clares St., in Capitola from 7:15 to 9 a.m.
She will speak on the topic of making meetings productive and meaningful.
