Kelly Chew, owner of The Card Shark printing and graphic design, threw a pizza party at Santa Cruz Pizza Co. for the Scotts Valley Little League team his company sponsors.
The Scotts Valley Little League Astros won the AAA crown and then swept through the District 39 Tournament of Champions with an undefeated record.
“I’m very, very proud,” Chew said. “I figure it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I went undefeated in Pop Warner Football and I still talk about it — and I’m almost 50.”
The team awarded Chew with a trophy and memorabilia from the season.
New Leaf to make donation to library
New Leaf Community Market in Felton will contribute 5 percent of its net profit on Aug. 27 to the Felton Library Friends. The donation will support the group’s efforts to build a new Felton branch public library.
New menu, remodel at Tim’s Express
Tim’s Express, a Chinese food restaurant in Scotts Valley, completed a remodel of its storefront in the Scotts Village shopping center.
Owners Tim and Shirley Chen updated their menu as well, including new and fresh ingredients. The couple will offer free lunch to customers from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Aug. 14, so customers can test out their newest dishes.
