Maria Willis of Awaken Massage Therapy will give away one to three massages each month to those in need.
The program, called Awaken Gives Back, awards massages to those who need therapy but cannot afford it.
Awaken accepts letters nominating deserving individuals. Nominations can be mailed to 216 Mount Hermon Road, Ste. C, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
ospital receives pediatric certification
Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz has received Children’s Medical Services-California Children’s Services approval as a full CCS Pediatric Community Hospital.
To receive the designation, Dominican has an expert pediatric staff on hand for any patient.
California Children’s Services provides money to care for children with certain medical conditions that usually require medicines, surgery or rehabilitation or that are physically disabling.
Dominican is the only county hospital with the CCS Pediatric designation.
Hospice announces staff promotions
Carolyn Irish of Hospice of Santa Cruz County has been promoted to hospital liaison nurse, and Kathy Fielding was hired as a hospice team leader.
Before her promotion, Irish was an admissions nurse for seven years and a case manager for two years with the hospice.
Fielding was previously an oncology nurse at Redwood Regional Medical Group in Northern California.
