Business Notes: Virgo Rising to help food bank, offer discounts

Felton gift shop Virgo Rising will host a benefit food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 20 through 25.
Owner Karen Diamond will offer customers a 1 percent discount for each nonperishable food item donated at the store, up to 10 percent off for 10 items.
Virgo Rising is at 6264 Highway 9 in Felton.

Safeway boosts Cougars
Cashiers at Safeway in Felton encouraged customers to donate their receipts to San Lorenzo Valley middle and high schools during its annual eScrip “10 percent Back to School” program.
The grand total was more than $5,200 to each school.
Taqueria opens next to SLV High
Taqueria La Escondida is open at 6965 Highway 9 in Felton, next to San Lorenzo Valley High School.
The restaurant serves burritos, breakfast burritos, tacos and huevos rancheros, among other items, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
The taqueria has the same owners as La Barrenada Sea Food and Taqueria on Beach Street in Santa Cruz.
The location is the former Fat Cat Deli, a high school student favorite.
