Cal Fire continues burn ban in local communities

Due to the continuing lack of rain, Cal Fire officials continued the suspension of open-air burning in counties along the central California coast, including Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and Monterey counties.
Factoring into the decision have been the unusually low amount of rain, low humidity levels and recurring high winds, all of which could promote wildfires.
The ban is expected to continue through the weekend, a Cal Fire announcement stated.
