Local entrepreneurs who want to open a cannabis-based business can get some tips on how to navigate the state bureaucracy at a free workshop Monday in Monterey.
The workshop hosted by the Bureau of Cannabis Control is the first of five scheduled throughout the state and deals with what licensing information is needed and what resources are available for people planning to apply for state commercial cannabis licenses.
The free workshop is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza in Monterey, and no registration is required.
On Wednesday a coalition of consumers, patients, caregivers, environmentalists and small growers will hold a public meeting on the future of cannabis in Santa Cruz County. The free public meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Resource Center for Nonviolence, 612 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz.
Topics for the Wednesday meeting will include: access to medical and adult use products and licenses; best farming practices; environmental improvement and social justice; the regulatory process; consumer rights; and, best practices.
