The building in Victor Square shopping center that once housed Wendy's will soon be home to Carl's Jr.

Progress is being made rapidly toward the opening of a Carl’s Jr. franchise in Scotts Valley.
Set to be located inside the former site of Wendy’s on Victor Square, the permitting process that would allow Brea-based Tri Star Foods LLC to begin reworking the premises has been nearly completed, said Deputy City Manager Corrie Kates on Tuesday.
“It looks like it’s imminent,” Kates said. “I think the only thing we have left (to get) is a signature.”
Once the permits are signed, Chowchilla-based Thomson Architectural Group will do a commercial remodeling of the building – officially known as “tenant improvements.”
“It’s basic an image enhancement,” said Scott Thomson, owner of Thomson Architectural Group. “You’ll have a fresh new interior…the outside will be painted.”
Thomson also said that the dining room areas, restroom facilities, doorways, and walkways would all be expanded to accommodate Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.
“We’re bringing the site up to current accessibility standards,” he said.
According to Kates, the signs for the new restaurant have already received the green-light, and “should be going up pretty darn soon,” he said Tuesday.
“Signage is easy,” he said. “It’s just an electrical permit.”
Wendy’s closed in August when ownership decided not to renew a 20-year contract with the franchise.
