Krislyn Mason has a lap marked off by instructional aide Harold Wasserstrom during a Turkey Trot fundraiser Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Students circled the track Wednesday, Dec. 9, during a Turkey Trot fundraiser by Michele Sanguinetti’s third-grade class at Vine Hill Elementary School in Scotts Valley.
All runners had sponsors, and the money they raised will buy canned food for the Valley Churches United Missions Christmas drive. As of this week, the school has collected 4,000 cans — far short of the school’s target of 15,000 cans.
Vine Hill was the winner of Valley Churches’ Grand Can Award in 2008, when students collected more cans than any other school in the area.
The last day to drop off cans in classrooms before winter break is Thursday, Dec. 17.
