Exchange Club of Scotts Valley
The club’s annual golf tournament at Valley Gardens Golf Course, 263 Mt. Hermon Road, in Scotts Valley, was postponed until Oct. 2. All money raised will go into the community.
The entry fee is $45 for golf, a continental breakfast, gift bag, one free raffle ticket, a luncheon and a chance to bid at silent auction for items including foursomes to the Pasatiempo and DeLaveaga golf courses.

Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Valley
Rotary president Julie Haff, superintendent of San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, hosted about 10 new teachers and administrators for a potluck breakfast Aug. 18 in the high school cafeteria.
Each teacher was presented with a gift certificate donated by Palace Office Supply.
September speakers include: Sept. 2, a Vocational Service Committee Report; Sept. 9, Jim and Marie Sikora’s presentation of Rotary International’s 100th convention; Sept. 16, District Governor Loren Harper; Sept. 23, club assembly; and Sept. 30, Rich Casey from Los Altos Rotary Club with information about pediatric AIDS prevention.
The club meets at 7:15 a.m. Wednesdays in the Birch Dining Room on Conference Drive in the Mount Hermon Conference Center. Cost is $10.

Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
August marks the 25th anniversary of the Scotts Valley Kiwanis Club.
In the past month, the club provided its stage for the Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival and Music in the Park in Skypark.
The Kiwanis proudly co-sponsored Music in the Park in July and will do so again Sunday, Aug. 30. The event provides funds for school music programs, making it a major charity for Kiwanis.
The club also cleaned the west section of Highway 17 for the Adopt-a-Highway program.
The club recently hosted Maria Reams, who spoke about Siena House and its care for expectant, unwed mothers. It also presented San Lorenzo Valley High School graduate Darby Bukowski with a $1,000 scholarship.
The club meets at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at Heavenly Café, 1270 Mt. Hermon Road, with a cost of $5, except for the second Wednesday of each month, when the meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Scotts Valley Hilton and costs $20.
This month’s dinner will feature a presentation from the Press-Banner staff.

Scotts Valley Host Lions
The Scotts Valley Host Lions cleaned its Adopt-A-Highway section of Highway 17 this past month and sold food at the Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival.
The club will sell desert items at this week’s Music in the Park in Skypark, with proceeds benefiting the Scotts Valley Education Foundation.
Upcoming events include the South Bay Stand Down in Boulder Creek on Sept. 19 and 20, where the club will have its A.J. Robinson mobile screening unit. The Palo Alto Veteran’s Hospital sponsors this event, and the club will provide free health screenings to military veterans.
The club will also host its 10th annual charity golf tournament at Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club, 16901 Big Basin Way, on Sept. 25.
The club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at the Scotts Valley Senior Center, 370 Kings Village Road, with the exception of the second Tuesday of each month, when the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

Rotary Club of Scotts Valley
Rotary of Scotts Valley sponsored a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast Aug. 24 during which the club donated $4,000 to Scotts Valley schools. Also in August, the club gave $1,000 to Rising International, a charity that helps women in deprived parts of the world begin their own crafts-based businesses.
On Aug. 15, the club won its first Jet Award by hosting a barbecue and bar at Rotary’s Family Day at the A’s.
The club plans to partner up with Save Our Shores for a beach cleanup at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz at 10 a.m. Sept. 12. Club members and volunteers will create a very large Rotary wheel made of sand after the beach is clean.
Plans for this year’s Oktoberfest are in the works for 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Scotts Valley Sports Center. Proceeds raised from advanced ticket sales will go to Scotts Valley Educational Foundation.
The club meets from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Mondays at the Scotts Valley Hilton. Lunch is at 12:15 p.m. and costs $16.
