Scotts Valley Rotary
“A Cause to Celebrate” was a success, with more than 300 people in attendance. The event was a joint fundraiser for the Scotts Valley Rotary and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, sponsored by Slawinksi Auctions. Entertainment included an Elvis impersonator and Italian tenor Pasquale Esposito.
Many Rotarians enjoyed a weekend in Squaw Valley while attending the Rotary district celebration from June 1 to 3.
The club celebrated the end of the rotary year Monday, June 25, at Malone’s Grille, debunking President Randy Klein and welcoming new president Cheryl Rebottaro. The club is also forming plans for the coming year, including another humanitarian project in Guatemala and continuing work with local youth.
The club meets at 12:15 p.m. Mondays at the Scotts Valley Hilton, 6001 La Madrona Drive. Meeting dates and upcoming speakers are listed online.

Scotts Valley Host Lions
Scotts Valley Lions installed their new officers this month. Jay Mosley is the club’s next president.
On July 13, a Friday, the club will host the Higgins Family Benefit Dinner & Dance. All net proceeds will be donated to help the family and their struggle with Huntington’s disease. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road. Dinner will be family-style pasta, salad and garlic bread, and music will be provided by the Billy Martini Band. The cost is $25. Tickets must be purchased by July 6 and will not be sold at the door.
The Lions Club will sponsor a Habitat for Humanity Build Day on July 21 in Scotts Valley.

Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
Kiwanis hosted the first Music at Skypark show, headlined by dance band Joint Chiefs and opening with Ancestree.
The series continues July 29 with West Grand Blvd as the opening concert at 3:30 p.m., and headliner the Houserockers at about 5 p.m.
The club organizes Music at Skypark to support music programs in local schools. Last year’s concerts and sponsors raised more than $20,000.
On July 4, the club will sell light-up novelties and donate its stage for the city’s fireworks show.
The club has evening meeting at 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month and morning meetings at 7 a.m. other Wednesdays. All meetings are at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road, in Scotts Valley ($5). Those interested in the charitable work of Kiwanis are welcome to attend.
