Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
The club has revamped the qualifications for its annual Mike Smith Scholarship. Students who may be planning to attend community college or a trade or vocational school are now also eligible. The club is seeking high school senior applicants for this award.
The club recently awarded $500 to the Kiwanis-affiliated Circle K Club at University of California, Santa Cruz, to help them in their community efforts.
Club members performed the monthly clean-up of Scotts Valley’s section of Highway 17.
The club meets at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at Bruno’s BBQ, 230 Mount Hermon Road, in Scotts Valley. The second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at Bruno’s at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
Exchange Club of Scotts Valley
A scholarship for the most improved student at Scotts Valley High School is in the works. The winner will be announced later this year.
Club members are also working on the annual awards event to celebrate the police officer and firefighter of the year, scheduled for May 3 at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road.

Exchange meets at noon the second Wednesday of each month at Mint, 4652 Scotts Valley Drive. During a monthly event at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Scotts Valley Branch Library, 251 Kings Village Road, a community leader presents local information.
Scotts Valley Host Lions Club
The Lions’ annual crab cioppino dinner will begin at 6 p.m. March 2, a Saturday, at the CPDES Hall, 216 Evergreen St., in Santa Cruz. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. and dancing at 9 p.m.
Tickets are $45 and should be purchased in advance. The event includes all-you-can-eat garlic bread, salad, pasta and crab cioppino. Dessert, soft drinks and wine are included. Raffle tickets will be sold.
After dinner, party-goers will enjoy an evening of music and dancing with the Billy Martini Band. Tickets can be bought from any Scotts Valley Lions member or by emailing sv****@*ol.com or calling 438-2678.

SLV Rotary Club
Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Valley will make phone calls for Mountain Community Resource’s Phone-a-thon on Wednesday, Feb. 27, as its February community service project.
A speech contestant from San Lorenzo Valley High School was scheduled to speak at the Rotary Regional Speech Contest at Morgan Hill Rotary Club on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 23, a food drive to benefit Valley Churches United Missions is scheduled at Safeway, 6255 Graham Hill Road, in Felton.
