Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
The Kiwanis awarded its annual Most Improved Student Awards at the Scotts Valley Middle School year-end ceremony and preformed its monthly clean up of the southbound Scotts Valley section of Highway 17. Members attended the year-end wrap up for the Circle K youth group it sponsors at University of California, Santa Cruz.
The club provided the stage and tents for the Relay for Life event that was held June 14 and 15 at Skypark. The club is also gearing up for the first of this years Music at Skypark concerts on June 30. Proceeds benefit the music programs in Scotts Valley schools.
In addition, Kiwanis will join the Boulder Creek Boy Scout Troop to provide the stage, tents and games for Scotts Valley’s 4th of July celebration at Skypark.
The club meets at 7 a.m. each Wednesday at Bruno’s BBQ, 230 Mount Hermon Road in Scotts Valley. The second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at Bruno’s at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome.
 
Scotts Valley Exchange Club
The club is planning its annual fundraising golf tournament to be held Sept. 20 at Valley Gardens Golf Course. It will be a shotgun start with continental breakfast and barbecue lunch. The club seeks players and sponsors.
Exchange meets the second Wednesday of each month for lunch at Mint, 4652 Scotts Valley Drive and on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Road with a guest speaker of community relevance. Appetizers and drinks are served. The club encourages the public to attend and seeks members that would like to participate in community. Scott’s Valley Rotary Club
The Scott’s Valley Rotary Club is finishing up a busy month. Members of the club supported Scotts Valley’s Relay For Life. The fundraiser club members enjoyed immensely was sending a flock of plastic pink flamingoes to each others businesses and homes. Almost $2,000 was raised through the club for the Relay.
Delegates from the Ugandan city of Kasese visited a club meeting promoting their hope for becoming a Friendship City with Santa Cruz. After this is established, they can then apply to be a sister city.
Separately, the club joined in with several other Rotary clubs and raised enough money to supply 18 villagers in Guatemala with safe cooking stoves. Planning is under way to visit Guatemala and provide another health fair along with vitamins, medical and school supplies and more stoves. The Rotary Club is looking forward to serving free watermelon slices provided by the city at the Scotts Valley Fourth of July celebration at Skypark.
Scotts Valley Lions Club
Scotts Valley Lions Club held its installation of officers at Bruno’s BBQ. Steve Brown will take over as the next President. The club continues to serve lunches at the Scotts Valley Senior Center twice a week. On the weekend of June 29, the club will help with the Assisted Living Project, cleaning and painting the exterior of their building. Lions Clubs are dedicated to helping people and organizations located in their community. Each year Scotts Valley Lions donates thousands of dollars to worthy causes, commits time and energy completing service projects and help dozens of local residents obtain eye exams and glasses.
