Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
In August, the Kiwanis sponsored Music at Skypark series continued with the most successful show to date. Hundreds were treated to the fantastic sounds of Xtra Large, and thousands were raised for local schools thanks to the participation of local businesses. The final show will take place Sunday, Sept. 29 at Skypark, 361 Kings Village Road in Scotts Valley and feature The Coffis Brothers and The Groove Hounds.
During August, the club helped paint the Skypark airport historical tribute mural on the library building.
The club planned for the upcoming new officer installation. Steve Dodds will replace Rick King as president, while Peggie Lopez and Linda Benko will continue as secretary and treasurer, respectively. The club also performed a Highway 17 clean-up.
The club meets at 7 a.m. each Wednesday morning at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road, but the second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
 
SLV Rotary Club
The club has an upcoming slate of activities and speakers. On Oct.12, a breakfast and barrel wrap will take place at Second Harvest Food Bank.
On Oct. 2, speakers will be SLV High School students who attended Camp RYLA; Oct. 9, George Hildebrand and Teresa Landers about the Guatemala Project; on  Oct. 16 Alex Carelli about the FoodWhat Organization; on Oct. 30, Dr. Laurel Jones, President of Cabrillo College.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 7:15 a.m. in Birch Dining Room, at Mount Hermon,  37 Conference Drive. Cost is $10.
 
Scotts Valley Host Lions
Scotts Valley Lions Annual charity golf tournament will be held Friday, Sept. 27 at Valley Gardens Golf Course. Registration is at 1 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. tee-off and a 5 p.m. steak barbecue. For information: Karen, 429-2017.
Meetings are open to all on the second  Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., and the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 a.m., at Scotts Valley Senior Center, 370 Kings Village Road.
 
Scotts Valley Rotary Club
The Rotary was involved with the Annual Coastal Clean Up this month, which is one of the largest one-day volunteer events in the world. The club also volunteered at Scotts Valley’s E-Waste event this month and 22,000 pounds of e-waste was collected. The club is very excited to bring back its annual Octoberfest.
The club is growing by leaps and bounds. Three new members were inducted in one day and several more are in the works. The club meets each Monday at 12:15 p.m. upstairs at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road with lunch.
