Kiwanis of the Valleys
The Club will honor member Charlie Wise at a special ceremony on April 29 at San Lorenzo Valley High School for his long time mentoring of the Kiwanis high school K Clubs at SLV, Pacific Collegiate School and Scotts Valley High School and his involvement with Boy Scout Troop 623.
By special invitation of Music at Skypark major sponsor GreenWaste Recovery, club members were treated to an informative tour of their recycling plant in San Jose. Planning for this summer’s Music at Skypark series is well underway, with both new and returning sponsors being currently enlisted. Non-member volunteer help with this program is welcome.
Kiwanis members spent the April 5 Kiwanis International Day of Service by volunteering labor at the new Annette Marcum Memorial Community Garden in Scotts Valley.
Additionally, the final touches are being put on the new, improved and updated club website.
All are welcome to meet with Kiwanis at Bruno’s BBQ at 7 a.m. every Wednesday morning and the second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at Bruno’s at 6:30 p.m.
Valley Women’s Club
The Valley Women’s Club has a couple busy months coming up, and invites your participation.
Volunteers are needed for the Redwood Mountain Faire, May 31 and June 1. Four hours of volunteer time means free entry that day.

Volunteers are also needed to help with a concentrated two hour San Lorenzo River clean up, on National River Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 17 from 9 to 11 a.m.

After the clean-up that same day, enjoy the Sanctuary Celebration on the Santa Cruz Wharf, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Make non-toxic environmental cleaners at the VWC booth, a part of the Environmental Committee’s Green Solutions outreach. Find many activities, food and fun to celebrate the Monterey Bay Sanctuary.
SLV Rotary
SLV Rotary and Interact Clubs held a successful food drive for Valley Churches United Mission on Saturday, April 12 at Felton Safeway. 
Club members have been teaming up with Interact students to paint the fire hydrants in Boulder Creek, a project given to the clubs by the Boulder Creek Fire Department. Both clubs will be entered in the Felton Remembers Parade, May 24.
Meeting schedule for May and speakers who will be speaking on travel: May 7: Joe Griffin and Linda Fawcett’s Road Trip. May 14: Mary Hammer, visiting Huatulco, Mexico. May 21: Joe Griffin and Linda Fawcett’s Patagonian Adventure. May 28: “Exotic California.”
The SLV Rotary Club meets on Wednesdays at 7:15 a.m. in Birch Dining Room on Conference Drive at Mount Hermon Conference Center. Cost is $10.
