Kiwanis of the Valleys
The club is currently planning the annual Music at Skypark wrap-up banquet, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Bruno’s BBQ, at which the event’s sponsors and vendors will be acknowledged for their support of the program.
A check for the $20,000 raised by this past summer’s Music at Skypark concert series will be donated to Scotts Valley’s public school music program.
On Halloween, the club set up its tents for the annual Harvest Festival at the Valley Vineyards Church.
The club continues to grow, with the addition of Lisa Ahrweiler and Becca Medina as the two newest members. Marshall Wolf was installed as the club’s new president.
Late in November, the club will help set up the annual Ed Foundation Christmas tree lot on Scotts Valley Drive. Members will also help with sales.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the club will join with our youth-sponsored Key Club and Circle K to purchase gifts for the more than 80 kids who will be attending the annual Big Brothers and Big Sisters Christmas luncheon at Shadowbrook in December.
Kiwanis meets 7 a.m. every Wednesday morning at Bruno’s BBQ. The second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at Bruno’s at 6:30 p.m. Visi http://www.kiwanisofthevalleys.org/ for more information.
Rotary Club of Scotts Valley
The Rotary Club of Scotts Valley is a part of World Polio Day, which was held on Friday, Oct. 24. The club has donated thousands of dollars each year to help get rid of polio in the world.
On this particular day, the club took part in Purple Pinkie Day. At the Scotts Valley High School and Middle School, students could get their pinkie painted purple to show awareness and show support of children all around the world.
Currently, Scotts Valley Rotary Club has members in Laos and Cambodia helping to deliver hospital equipment, bringing along doctors and nurses to train the locals in procedures and how to use the equipment.
The club also had a very enjoyable evening in September cooking and serving dinner to about 50 seniors at the Scotts Valley Senior Center.
The club is planning a bicycle event to happen in the near future.
San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club
The San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club participated in the Second Harvest Food Bank Barrel Wrap at the Food Bank’s Watsonville location.
Also, the SLV Rotary Club has been an annual sponsor at the Mountain Parks Lobster Feed.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the Rotary Club will join with the Interact Club of San Lorenzo Valley High School in a potluck celebration of International Interact Week.
The SLV Rotary Club will welcome Bill Rush from Comunidad Para Baja California on Saturday, Nov. 1, to discuss a service project in Ensenada, Mexico. On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Club will hold an assembly.
Janet Coit will provide information about her profession as funeral celebrant on Wednesday, Nov. 19. No meeting will be held the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. 
Meetings are held every Wednesday, at 7:15 a.m. in the Birch Dining Room at the Mount Hermon Conference Center.
