San Lorenzo Valley Rotary
The San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club and the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District had a benefit spaghetti dinner for Haiti at the Zayante Firehouse. With the coins collected at all the SLV schools, the dinner, a raffle and donations at the dinner, $6,000 was raised. That will purchase six shelter boxes, which provide a dome tent, sleeping bags, light and heat, clean water and cooking aids for 10, plus tools.

The club meets at 7:15 a.m. Wednesdays in the Birch Dining Room on Conference Drive in Mount Hermon Conference Center. Cost: $10.
Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley:
The club donated labor for the barbecue at the annual Scotts Valley Educational Foundation Mountain Charlie Challenge and participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake to support Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Santa Cruz.
The club also plans to barbecue, sell soda and beer, and provide the stage at the start and finish line of the Scotts Valley Grand Prix on May 15. The day will feature professional bicycle racing from 3 to 9 p.m. in Scotts Valley. Proceeds will support scholarships and charities.
The club meets 7 a.m. every Wednesday at Heavenly Café, 1270 Mount Hermon Road, with a cost of $5, except the second Wednesday of each month, which is a 6 p.m. meeting at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive, and costs $20.

Santa Cruz Moose Lodge No. 545
The Moose Lodge installed a new board of officers for the 2010-11 year.
Moose members formed three teams for Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Santa Cruz on Friday, April 24. Each member approached friends, family and co-workers as sponsors for the event. The money raised will benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County.
The lodge continues to be refurbished, with upgrades to the kitchen, building and surrounding grounds, thanks to hardworking volunteers.
Lodge members delivered food for Meals on Wheels and continue to donate to the Valley Churches United Mission and Mooseheart charities.
Scotts Valley Rotary
Scotts Valley Rotary will host its annual gala, Denim, Diamonds and Wine, at 5 p.m. June 5 at the Scotts Valley Community Center. The night will include a Western band, wine tasting, dancing and more. Proceeds are used for service projects, with an emphasis on local community work.
The club, in cooperation with Assist International, began a drive to provide medical equipment to Guatemalan hospitals that serve needy populations that are otherwise unable to get medical care.
Club members also did intake at the Scotts Valley Senior Center in cooperation with Helping Hands to help seniors who need minor home repairs.

The club meets from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Mondays at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive. Lunch begins at noon and costs $16.
