The California Department of Parks and Recreation will ignite a 5-acre prescribed burn at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park tomorrow.
The burn will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 and is expected to be completed on Friday, April 15.
Parks personnel will conduct the burn and have alerted valley residents that there will likely be a column of smoke rising from the park for several days.
“It’s up by the observation platform so it will be visible from a lot of places,” Parks Environmental Scientist Tim Hyland said.
This burn is being conducted to reduce the threat of wildfire and to enhance the natural resources in the park.
