Scotts Valley Senior Life Association has announced the ninth annual Scotts Valley Mayor’s State of the City event, a cornerstone tradition designed to foster transparency, inform the public and encourage civic engagement.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the doors of Scotts Valley’s Community Performing Arts Center, now known as “The Landing,” will open at 5pm, inviting residents to connect with city officials and community leaders. Presentations commence promptly at 5:30pm, with no charge for admission. Attendees will be welcomed with light refreshments and an atmosphere that encourages open dialogue.
This year’s event will feature Mayor Derek Timm, who will introduce a distinguished panel of presenters: Police Chief Steve Walpole, Fire Chief Mark Correira, Water District Manager David McNair, School District Superintendent Tanya Krause and City Manager Mali LaGoe. Each will share updates on their department’s achievements over the past year and discuss priorities and upcoming initiatives for the year ahead.
Among the topics to be addressed is the status of the highly anticipated Town Center project.
Following the presentations, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session, engaging directly with the panel and gaining valuable insights into the workings of their local government. Attendees are encouraged to prepare questions in advance to make the most of this unique opportunity to interact with city leadership.
Refreshments will be available in the lobby following the Q&A, where one-on-one conversations with presenters and fellow residents will further enrich the evening.
This annual event is hosted by the Senior Life Association, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting educational opportunities and providing grants that benefit the health and well-being of senior citizens in the Scotts Valley community.
