EDITOR,
Every time the police are criticized in the slightest, no matter how justified, the usual suspects grab their pens and tell us in no uncertain terms that not only are the police always blameless, but we are obviously criminals to even dare complain.
These people also seem to believe that any one accused of a crime is guilty except the police. Any time a police officer is accused of a crime, they always say exactly the same thing: “You weren’t there, you don’t know.”
Of course, you can say that about anyone accused of a crime. But this, like the presumption of innocence, seems only to apply to the police.
I know that police have a difficult job. For those who do their job within the parameters of the human rights upon which this country was founded, you have my admiration and respect. For those who can’t, I suggest you find a different job.
