Council did right

EDITOR,
I’m a Scotts Valley resident who says thank the Scotts Valley City Council for voting against a year-long moratorium on Pacific Gas and Electric Co. smart meters for the right reasons. Whether or not the smart meters are a smart idea is open for debate, but they realized the futility of the city of Scotts Valley taking on this debate. I commend the council for considering the impact and protecting our city resources for use on issues that the city does have control over.
The council was sensitive to the fact that the smart meters have raised the concerns of our citizens, and yet realized the council’s role does not have to include officially weighing in on an issue over which the council holds no authority.
