Dan Perez, a Scotts Valley resident, died of cancer Jan. 2. He was 67.
Mr. Perez was born Nov. 18, 1943, and raised in Gonzales. He moved to Scotts Valley in 1998.
He spent his working life as a construction tradesman doing finish carpentry. The past 12 years, he restored antiques at the Finishing Touch in Scotts Valley.
Mr. Perez, described by relatives as a kind man, valued his family and was often seen with his dog, Emily Lou. He enjoyed football and music and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also followed NASCAR racing and supported the Dale Earnhardt team.
He delighted in making wooden gifts for his grandchildren.
Mr. Perez is survived by three daughters, Heidi and Danielle Perez, both of San Francisco, and Jenna Perez of Hollister; three brothers and four sisters; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 8 at St. Theodore’s Church in Gonzales.
