This holiday season, Agape Dance Academy will gift Scotts Valley with a chance to see the studio’s performance of The Nutcracker Ballet free of charge.
The dancers will perform two shows, one at 11:30 a.m. and another at 2:30 p.m. on December 21 at the Scotts Valley Community Center.
“The dancers are amazing,” said Melanie Useldinger, the founder of Agape. “I think people will be very surprised by the level at which they perform coming from such a small community.”
Useldinger is hosting paid shows at another location in the county, but also wants to offer a free show to Scotts Valley where her studio is.
“It’s a way of combining what we do in the arts and giving back to the community,” Useldinger said. “I want to live for a purpose and I want to inspire my dancers to live for a purpose. I want the things I do to count for my community, and for man-kind.”
She expects the show to be popular and will begin giving tickets away at the Agape Dance studio, 218 E Mount Hermon Road, in Scotts Valley from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16. There are limited seats available, so there will be a five ticket maximum per person.
The show will act as a fundraiser for Toy’s for Tots, and Useldinger asks those who attend the free performance to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the organization.
