Services will be Friday, Nov. 19, for Daniel Garcia, 51, who died Nov. 10 at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center as a result of injuries from a Nov. 1 motorcycle accident.
Mr. Garcia was born to Jose R. and Matiana Loza Garcia and raised in Santa Cruz County with a close extended family. As a young boy, he lived in Davenport and attended Pacific Elementary in Davenport, Mission Hill Junior High in Santa Cruz and Watsonville High School.
Relatives said Mr. Garcia loved football and was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his grandchildren and riding his motorcycle with friends and especially with his brothers.
For the past 13 years, he worked for the Scotts Valley Unified School District as a maintenance supervisor. He was active in several community programs and was always there to do what needed to be done.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bertha Garcia; two daughters, Araceli Hernandez, and her husband, Jose, and Angelica Gaona, and her husband, Daniel; son, Daniel Garcia; three brothers, Refugio Garcia, Jose Garcia, and David Garcia; four sisters, Maria Garcia, Dolores Sandoval, Juanita Carrasco, Enrique, and Frances Tovar; six grandchildren; and many nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Garcia.
Friday’s Mass will begin at 11 a.m. at St Patrick’s Church, 721 Main St., in Watsonville, followed by burial in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be observed before the service, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., in Watsonville.
