A memorial service will be this weekend for lifelong Scotts Valley resident Darrell Lee Mayfield, who died after a 28-month battle with terminal cancer. He was 48.
Mr. Mayfield was born an identical twin to brother Dan Mayfield to parents Ingrid Austin and Jim Mayfield.
Mr. Mayfield grew up in Scotts Valley and attended Brook Knoll Elementary, Scotts Valley Middle and Harbor High schools and Cabrillo College.
His career spanned 25 years as a senior loan officer and more than 15 years as co-owner and founder (with Lynne Bridges Smith) of Tristar Mortgage, now Sound Mortgage/Team Tristar. He contributed to the community through charitable giving and by giving of himself.
Mr. Mayfield is survived by his wife, Lena Machado Mayfield, and two children, Michelle and Nicholas, all of Scotts Valley.
A service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at San Agustin Catholic Church, 257 Glenwood Drive, in Scotts Valley, followed by a celebration of Mr. Mayfield’s life at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive.
