Services are pending for longtime local resident David Dodrill, who died June 22 in Felton following a brief battle with throat cancer. He was 45 years old.
Born in Scotts Valley, Mr. Dodrill attended Vine Hill Elementary, Scotts Valley Intermediate, Soquel High and Baymonte Christian schools. As a youth, he participated in Scotts Valley Little League and Scotts Valley Pop Warner Football.
Mr. Dodrill lived in Big Redwood Park in Los Gatos from 1965 to 1973 and in Scotts Valley from 1973 to 1991. He moved in 2003 to Rose Acres in Felton, where he leaves many dear friends.
He worked for a time with Seagate in 1983 as a line worker, and he enjoyed bicycling and working on bikes. Mr. Dodrill attended Scotts Valley Baptist Church from 1969 to 1983.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Slanina of Niles, Ohio; brothers, Eugene Dodrill of Scotts Valley and Bob Woodward and Gary Dodrill, both of Niles; sister in-law, Linda Dodrill of Scotts Valley; and nephews Jason and Nathan Dodrill, both of Scotts Valley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jennings Dodrill.
A private cremation is under the direction of Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz.
