Faunce

A memorial service will be held March 11 for World War II veteran David E. Faunce, a Scotts Valley resident who died Feb. 12. He was 88.
Mr. Faunce enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and participated as a gunner in the defense of Guadalcanal Island and several other major campaigns in the south Pacific during World War II.
Following his discharge in 1946, Mr. Faunce went to work for Ford Motor Co. He retired from Ford and moved to Oklahoma when the company closed its plant in Milpitas in 1983.
He moved to Scotts Valley to live with his daughter in 2009.
Mr. Faunce is survived by a daughter, Linda Burke of Scotts Valley; two brothers, Bill Faunce of Pennsylvania and Robert Faunce of South Carolina; four granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wives Mae P. Faunce and Gloria Faunce and sons Jeffrey R. Faunce and John D. Faunce.
A service will begin at 4 p.m. March 11, a Monday, at Vista Del Lago, 444 Whispering Pines Drive, in Scotts Valley.
