Welton

 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22 for Diane June Welton who died at her home in Felton with her daughters and son-in-law by her side. She was 61.
Mrs. Welton was born in Los Angeles where she graduated high school from Verdugo High School in 1969. She later moved to Lake Tahoe for a brief period of time before moving to the Santa Cruz Mountains where she lived for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Welton was known throughout the San Lorenzo Valley for her blues harmonica performances. She enjoyed writing and playing music on her acoustic guitar and took any opportunity she got to show off her skills. In addition, she kept a book of poetry filled with sonnets that she had written throughout her life.
Mrs. Welton loved animals, had a wide variety of pets throughout her life, and volunteered with the Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz.
In 1996 and 1997 she fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning and riding a Harley Davidson to and from Sturgis, SD. She completed the trip with friends from The Ghost Mountain Riders, many of whom she was close to until the day she passed.
Mrs. Welton is survived by her father Doug Greer of Scott’s Valley; daughter Christen Miller and  husband Erik of Scott’s Valley; sons Scott McCall of Boulder, Colo. and Wes McCall of Bellevue, Colo.; daughter Misty Moran and her husband Jarrod of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Welton and mother Doris Greer.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at GateWay Bible Church, 5000 Granite Creek Road in Scott’s Valley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz, 1855 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062 or www.nativeanimalrescue.org.
