• During a probation search, a man was arrested after tossing a container with 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and trying to run away at 2:07 a.m. on Highway 9 in Boulder Creek.

• A man was taken into custody on suspicion of public intoxication at 6:45 p.m. on the 300 block of Band Road in Boulder Creek.

• Someone ripped two mailbox posts out of the ground and broke off the wood at midnight on the 5000 block of Jackson Way in Felton.
• A woman was taken to county jail on suspicion of being drunk in public at 2:45 a.m. on the 200 block of Hillside Avenue in Ben Lomond.
• A man reported vandalism, with damage the costing $700 to repair, at 4 a.m. on the 700 block of Noteware Drive in Ben Lomond.
• Someone smashed the front windshield of a rental car from the car rental agency on the 6900 block of Highway 9 in Felton at 7 p.m.

• When a man riding his bike against traffic on the 6000 block of La Madrona Drive was stopped at midnight, it was found that he was on active parole. Deputies saw signs that the man was under the influence of a controlled substance and took him to county jail.
• During a family dispute, a man was taken into custody for being under the influence of opiates at midnight on the 3000 block of Glen Canyon Road in Scotts Valley.

• Police were called to check on a man hiding in the bushes outside a house on the 100 block of Westhill Road in Felton at midnight. The man admitted to breaking a window and stealing several items from the house. He told deputies he was waiting in the bushes for a friend to pick him up.

• Someone took construction tools from a home on the 10200 block of Newell Creek Road in Ben Lomond at midnight.

• In Santa Cruz County, CHP officers arrested 13 people on suspicion of drunken driving.
Dec. 30
• During the month of December, CHP officers arrested 72 people on suspicion of driving under the influence countywide. That number does not include arrests made New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.

Jan. 3
• A 19-year-old man and his 22-year-old friend allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol from Safeway at 12:45 a.m. on the 200 block of Mount Hermon Road. They were both found to be drinking and were taken into custody by police.

• Someone used dry ice in a 2-liter bottle to blow up a woman’s mailbox at 8:37 a.m. on the 100 block of Twin Pines Drive.
• A woman called police to escort her ex-boyfriend from her apartment at 11:36 a.m. on the 4100 block of Scotts Valley Drive.
Dec. 31
• Police arrested three men in Scotts Valley on suspicion of public intoxication.
• A 19-year-old woman reported at 8 p.m. that her vehicle was stolen while parked at a friend’s house overnight on the 100 block of North Navarra Drive.
Dec. 27
• Someone entered a woman’s home and stole a $20 bill at 2 a.m. on the 2700 block of Granite Creek Road. No other items were taken.
