12:56 a.m., Best Western on Scotts Valley Drive, health and safety offense — An officer saw a black Honda Civic parked on the shoulder of northbound Scotts Valley Drive next to the rear lot of the Best Western. The Honda was parked approximately 10 feet away from the sidewalk, and was completely blocking the bicycle lane as well as blocking in a vehicle which was parked along the curb. Officer contacted occupant sleeping in the vehicle. He stated that he had been resting for approximately 3 hours at that location. The officer noted in plain sight two open containers of alcohol in the center console and administered a DUI investigation, determining the man was not intoxicated. The man gave consent to a search of the vehicle, and officer located a glass methamphetamine pipe and a usable quantity of presumptive methamphetamine in the center console of the vehicle. Officer located an additional meth pipe in the glove compartment. Suspect was cited and released.

Dec. 18

11:05 a.m., Cinelux Theater on Mt. Hermon Road, vandalism — A woman reported vandalism to her vehicle while she was parked in a handicapped space in front of the theater the previous night. She said she was confronted by an woman who was threatening to her vehicle because she thought she was not handicapped. Reporting party said that she is unsteady on her feet after a recent injury, but the other woman believed she hit her vehicle when she was exiting her car. She discovered this morning that her vehicle has been scratched up really badly and is hoping that the cinema has cameras to capture what occurred. Case closed.

Dec. 16

9:44 a.m., Earthwise Pets on Mt. Hermon Road, disturbance — Physical fight between male and female employee occurred 2-3 hours ago, The man was described as 6-feet tall, in his 30s, with short black hair, wearing a tee shirt, jeans and large headphones. The caller said the man left out the back after the altercation. Witnesses told the officer who responded that the fight was between a female employee and her boyfriend. The woman told officers that her boyfriend came into her work and began yelling at her due to an argument that occurred the previous night. She said that while the man was yelling at her, he pushed and kicked her. A co-worker of hers heard the yelling and told the man that they were calling the police. Officers later found the man sitting in his girlfriend’s vehicle. When asked, he confirmed everything she said and was arrested.

Dec. 15

5:29 p.m., Cinelux Theater on Mt. HermonRoad, disturbance — Officers responded to a disturbance between movie patrons after a man called the police to say he was pushed around after asking a woman near him to shut her phone off. When she refused, the man got up to go to the manager’s office and complain. When he did so, he said the woman’s husband also got up, confronted him and pushed him. The officer spoke with everyone involved, none of whom wished to pursue charges. One movie-goer got their money back.
