Lockhart Gulch closed in Scotts Valley
A fallen tree blocked Lockhart Gulch Road in Scotts Valley early Wednesday morning. Although there was no little wind on Tuesday night, the heavily saturated ground lent itself to the tree toppling at its roots blocking both lanes of the rural roadway.
The tree landed across power lines, knocking out electricity to more than 500 homes at 5:07 a.m. As of 9:30 a.m., the outage had been isolated to less than 50 homes in the Geyer Road and Lockhart Gluch areas while tree crews began work on removing the tree from the roadway.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company, along with Davey Tree were on scene to work on removing the tree and restoring power to the neighborhood.  Power is to be restored and the tree removed by 2 or 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, according to a PG&E foreman on the scene.
