Voters in the Boulder Creek and Zayante fire districts approved new parcel taxes for firefighting equipment.

Boulder Creek residents overwhelmingly voted to levy a $35 parcel tax to buy new equipment for the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District.
Almost 83 percent (2,950) of voters approved the 30-year annual tax.
Appearing on next year’s tax bill as a separate assessment, the money will be used to purchase fire engines, protective clothing and breathing apparatus.
The Zayante Fire Protection District stabilized funding and increased its on-site staff with the passage of Measure O.
Approved by almost 79 percent (985) of voters, the measure imposes a $68 parcel tax, which replaces the current $35 parcel tax (levied in 1992).
The Zayante vote coincides with expiration of a general obligation bond purchased in 1988 for $495,000, which has cost each homeowner $24 annually, so the net increase is $9 annually, beginning in July 2017.
