EDITOR,
I appreciate your printing both sides of an issue, but feel compelled to write in defense of Julie Hendriks’ position. Her letter rightly disapproved of the unprecedented action, taken by the head of the EPA, making “morning-after pills” unavailable to those under 18 years of age. These are already people who, though they are not perfect, are trying to act responsibly.
A group of cells does not constitute a complete being. The Earth’s problems are caused and intensified by overpopulation. Our society, both private and public, does not support those in need. It is unconscionable to bring more life into this world without much thought and desire. This very personal choice may be difficult, but ending any unwanted possible pregnancy is an act of selflessness and moral courage, no matter what age.
