Errol Cecily Carstensen

A memorial service is scheduled for Jan. 28 in Felton for Errol Carstensen of Mount Hermon, who died Dec. 24 in Santa Cruz at the age of 87.
Born in San Jose, Mrs. Carstensen moved to Oakland as a child and graduated from Fremont High School in 1942. She worked for American Trust Bank in Oakland before marrying and raising her family in Oakland. She and her husband moved to Mount Hermon in 1974 following his retirement from the Oakland police force.
Her family recalled her interests in genealogy and the life of Abraham Lincoln and her collection of dolls. She had visited Europe and traveled across the U.S. and Canada many times. She cared for elderly relatives and will be remembered both for her kindness and as a woman of faith.
Mrs. Carstensen belonged to Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Oakland from 1954 to 1974 and then became a member of Felton Presbyterian Church. The past three years, she lived at Maple House II in Santa Cruz.
Mrs. Carstensen sent greeting cards and gifts to her family and friends for all occasions. She also supported children overseas for many years and was an avid supporter of veterans.
She is survived by her daughters and sons in-law, Lorre Winkler, and her husband, John, of Mount Hermon, Sally Naley of El Cajon and Bonny Fant, and her husband, Carl, of Florence, Ky.; brother, Glendon Heath, and his wife, Barbara, of Southfield, Mo.; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Morris R. Carstensen; parents, William and Gladys Heath; and sister, Marilynn Whitman.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at Felton Presbyterian Church, 6090 Highway 9, in Felton. A private burial has taken place in Felton District Cemetery.
